The Snowsuit Fund launched its 2023/2024 season and fundraising campaign on Tuesday, October 17 with a gathering of past and present snowsuit recipients, corporate and community supporters, and volunteers.
Christina Miller, who has received snowsuits for two of her children over the years and whose four-year-old daughter Avianna received the day’s ceremonial first snowsuit, now works seasonally at the Donald Street depot to service others like her who live on low income.
Former and current clients shared their personal stories at the event as well. Alex Lawson, Director of Operations at Capital Framers, shared childhood memories of regular visits to food banks and the worried look on his Mom’s face when he outgrew his valuable, well-worn Snowsuit Fund snowsuits.
